From Valley Parkway..
When you see this long path to the sky. you found the location.
If you past this, you need to make a right at the next light.
Flip a U-turn inside.
Coming back the other way you will see the dam.
Park on the dirt road on the right.
...
Yesterday, my cousin and I made the trip to Del Dios next to Lake Hodges. I honestly wasn't about to go because it was getting really windy, cold and lack of sunlight. Luckily around 2pm, I checked the weather again and the sky opened up. Right then, we packed up the gear and was on our way. After a couple miles next to Lake Hodges, I thought i was lost.
Driving down Del dios and finding where to park was confusing. It was only when i made a U-turn on this gated community was when I saw the dam clearly and parked on the dirt road on the right side of the road. This trail was hardcore. The hike was practically what Deborah said. Its pretty steep and you should wear tough clothing and shoes. I can't imagine how older people got up there though. I was struggling a bit, but i eventually got there. I arrived at round 245pm (cause we couldnt see the dam) and left there at 330pmish.
I was only there for like 30 mins but it felt like an hour. The whole experience was interesting. Lots of random stuff that had nothing to do with flowers i saw there. But the pics turned out nice. I used the Canon 30D. For those of you who havent tried it, i highly recommend trying it once. It a fun camera and it was hard for me to go to another camera when i returned it since i've been using Canon 30D for like 3 fieldtrips now. :)
